Multiple BPMN process assignments

$

In the current configuration one can only assign one BPMN process diagram from a parent BPMN sub-process activity but multiple EPC's? We would like to have the BPMN analytical view as well as the BPMN execution view assigned from the same parent BPMN sub-process.

Is this possible and can the meta model be configured to support this?

Export process model to .BPMN or .BPMN2 file.

We'd been evaluating ARIS Express and came to realize it can't export the process model to .BPMN or .BPMN2 file formats. Can professional ARIS export to these standard XML format (file extensions .BPMN or .BPMN2)?

Automatically generating proces model from EPC notation to BPMN notation via Aris 9.8 Arhitect

Hello everyone!

My name is Jure Lakner and I am a student from faculty of organization science, Slovenia.

For my thesis I have to come clear on 2 main problems when you automatically generate EPC notation to BPMN notation in Aris 9.8 Architect.

Problems:

1. There are no signs in Gateways (Exclusive Gateway, Parallel Gateway,...) when the proces is automatically generated.

2. No Swimlanes (Pools, Lanes). So you do not have any role, organization or a system.

I have found that this was nicely done in Aris 7. Link to video: http://www.ariscommunity.com/videos/learn-how-epc-models-can-be-transformed-bpmn-models

Picture of proof that the generating model has so many flaws. No description on Gateways and NO Swimlanes!

My question is, how can Aris in version 7 transforms EPC notation normally with no flaws, but Aris 9.8 can not.

What are the rigth instruction for correct transformation from EPC to BPMN in Aris 9.8.

EPC notation is correctly written. If there is a problem with EPC notation I can publish it. But I do not think so, because EPC is written in all regulations.

If anybody can help me with this problem, I would be overjoyed!

Hello everyone,

I have a question about Business Blueprint. What you have to do that you manage to have Business Blueprint on your EPC model? This Blueprint is helpful for transforming EPC to BPMN notation by Generating solution design.

But I just do not found the right guidance to do so.

Please help me!

Sincerely yours,

Problem with transformation

Hello everyone,

This is the main problem when I am transforming form EPC to BPMN notation!

1.EPC notation (Simple EPC process).

2. Transformation from EPC to BPMN notation with function Generate model.

3. Transformation from EPC to BPMN notation with function Generate Solution Design.

So you can see that are some differences between those 2 transformation. So where is document in 3. transformation?

If you could help me I would be so grateful.

Sincerely yours,

Problems simulating ad-hoc subprocess

Hello,

I need to test ad-hoc subprocess possibilities in various tools for my Master theses. The first tool I am using is ARIS 9 and I already run into a problem. I have looked in documentation, however, I cannot find anything what would help me. (In case you have found it, let me know)

I have created a process which uses ad-hoc subprocess. As I want to simulate it, I need to set some parameters or conditions when ad-hoc subprocess is finished. Between BPMN 2.0 attributes there is "ad hoc completion condition". I am not sure what and in which form should be written there. I would like to finish the subprocess when one of the subactivities is done. However, I am not able to add neither an end event, nor some kind of condition. This leads to simulation stuck in ad-hoc subprocess. I hope somebody can help me.

BPMN Filter

Dear process-experts,

Successfully using and applying EPC in our organisation it’s time for a little change due to the intention of implementing process automation with BPMN 2.0.

Our idea is to offer a two-stage filter-system because of the plurality of objects in BPMN.

The first stage should exclusively contain objects for an “easy” modelling. The target group has no or little modelling experience and shouldn’t be overloaded by a variety of objects.

The second stage should complement the first stage with supported objects necessary / useful for a process automation notation.

Question:

In your opinion – which objects are indispensable for a simple process modelling (stage 1) and which are indispensable for process modelling with the objective of process automation (stage 2)?

Thanking you in anticipation

Business Architecture Driven Solution Delivery

Business Architecture Driven Solution Delivery

The Business Architecture Solution Delivery method ensures that you have alignment between the business layer and the supporting application & technology layers. Below you will find a short summary of how this is achieved.

1.Project Context

Make sure you identify your L1 processes from your Business Architecture and indicate the association to the project i.e.

Project refers to Process

Project adds Process

Project removes Process

Project changes Process

This allows one to have a view of which projects impact which processes in the enterprise and ensures that all design artifacts associated to the process is maintained for future change requests

2.Define (Update) L2 process

Define or design the L2 process associated to the parent L1 process indicating mostly sub-processes. Sub-processes with associated requirements (user stories) are then candidates for sea level use cases or user goal use cases. Each sub-process can have zero to many associated user stories (requirements).

3.Design sea level use case diagram

Harvest sub-processes with associated requirements from the L2 process diagrams and design the use case diagram. The purpose here is to understand the impact on human actors and technical actors (applications) and to estimate the development effort using use case point calculations.  This drives the target solution architecture and can be complimented by adding the Logical Views, Implementation Views & Deployment Views

4.Detail Analysis & Design

Now you have an initial product backlog consisting of L2 processes, associated use cases (sea level) and associated user stories. The product backlog can now be prioritized and work can start on expanding the high priority use cases into the relevant detail i.e.

  • Detail sub-process flows indicating default paths, alternative paths & exceptions
  • Screen navigation & associated screen designs
  • Sequence diagrams
  • Data model & class diagrams
  • Component diagrams
  • Deployment diagram’s etc.

Here is a link to an example project where the above was applied Project Movie Magic

The content was modeled in ARIS and published to Confluence & JIRA using the aris2confluence bridge from BPMUtils.com

Hi all

Need some help. I need to convert EPC to BPMN in ARIS.

i looked at the video titled 'Learn how EPC can be transformed into BPMN' in the forum but it assumes there is a Webmethods option. I am not able to see this in Business Architect.

Can someone please help? There are a few models and I do not want to do them manually

Possibilty of converting enterprise BPMN to "ordinary" bpmn

$

Hello process experts

We'd like to use epc as well as bpmn notation. The enterprise bpmn collaboration model seems to be a good way to use the same process references using role lanes e.g.

Unfortunately the enterprise bpmn collaboration model doesn't comply with the OMG BPMN 2.0 standard.

Is there any possibility of converting enterprise bpmn collaboration models to "ordinary" bpmn 2.0 models to ensure bpmn-process-exchanges with organisations not using ARIS?

Thanking you in anticipation

ARIS Cloud - BPMN Export

Hi, has anyone tried the BPMN export function on ARIS Cloud?

I'm using the ARIS Cloud trial version and could not seem to make it work.  I created a BPMN model and tried to export it using the BPMN export function on the Repository page but the "Validating BPMN export ..." just keeps running for a long time and I'm not getting any error message.  Is there another way to export BPMN 2.0 models?

There are two roles – Worker A and Worker B. Worker A begins with ‘Task A’. When ‘Task A’ is finished Worker A must complete ‘Task B’ and ‘Task C’ in any order (‘Task B’ and ‘Task C’ are parallel tasks). When both are completed Worker A then completes ‘Task D’. During ‘Task C’ a message is sent to Worker B. After Worker B receives the message they begin ‘Task E’. When ‘Task E’ and ‘Task D’ are completed the process is successfully completed.

Assignment symbol showing with no model assigned

Hello community

We have a slight issue in 9.7: many of our BPMN tasks and VACD process steps are expanding into BPMN diagrams using assignments. Now, we are considering adding Function Allocation Diagrams (FAD), assigned to some tasks to add more task information (Class diagrams used, SAP functions, etc...).

Some modelers are not interested in these FAD.

The issue is that if the FAD is removed in the filter, the tasks assigned to a FAD (only) still show the assignment icon, and return a "No Model are assigned to the object" message. We are not really inclined using the BPMN sub-process, as we wish to keep the same logic in BPMN as when expanding VACD steps into BPMN with an assignment.

Any suggestion? Would it make sense to avoid displaying the assignment icon when no assigned models can be reached?

Dear Sir or Madam,

Im modeling a BPMN of our complaint management.

My problem is that the matrix is to small (I need more place to the right to go further with the process).

Is there any possibility to make it larger? Maybe some changes in the program text?

Business Process Management (BPM) tools are used for 5 (100%) 14 ratings modelling, optimizing, automating and measuring the business processes. BPMN is a is a standard for business process modeling which provides a graphical representation for specifying business processes in a business process model. This is presented in a Business Process Diagram (BPD), based on a flowcharting technique very similar to activity diagrams from Unified Modeling Language (UML). The primary goal is to provide a standard notation readily understandable by all business stakeholders. These stakeholders include the business analysts who create and refine the processes, the technical developers responsible for implementing them, and the business managers who monitor and manage them.

Aris Express non compliant with the BPMN specification

Hello,

I use ARIS frequently for training and consulting missions and noticed that there are two modelling details in which Aris Express is not compliant with the BPMN specification:

1) The message flow must be dashed and not dotted. According to the specification:

With a dotted line in Aris Express. It is possible to change manually the dotted arrow into a dashed one in the properties, but this is not very convenient:

2) The event subprocess has a dotted boundary, not a dashed one (like in Aris Express), both the expanded and collapsed event subprocess. According to the BPMN spec:

In Aris Express there are dashed lines:

I wonder if somebody else has reported this already, since especially the message flow is already used in basic process models, but I couldn't find another post on it. Is it possible to correct this, please? How fast can SAG correct these sort of errors?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Question about BPMN

Hello,

I have a question about BPMN.

Is it possible to reference within a procesflow to another process? I know that it's possible to use subprocesses, but I'm curious if it's also possible to reference in a BPMN procesflow to another BPMN procesflow. Could you also say me how I can do this?

I hope one of you can help me out.

Thanks in advance!

Transform BPMN to eBPMN

We've modelled a large number of BPMN collaboration diagrams (2.0) in ARIS and are curious to understand whether we can transform all of these models to the Enterprise BPMN collaboration diagram model-type - in a non-manual way, that is:-).

Does anyone have experiences or ideas with this?
